Trail Description

The Emerald Forest is a great little trail network and one of the oldest bike trails in Whistler offering outstanding riding along moss-lined trails, small bridges and rocky outcrops. It is bounded by the dirt double track that heads west from the bottom of Lorimer Road, Alta Lake Rd and the Valley Trail with accesses from each.

The main spine and probably most difficult trail begins at the top of the toboggan hill, which can be seen from where the Valley Trail crosses River of Golden Dreams. The trail stays to the ridge of the forest dropping into a couple of side valleys with little connector trails that offer an exit or form loops. If, at the start, you stay left of the toboggan hill on the Emerald Forest Road you will find a steep little ramp right bordering the next clearing that will bring you up to a couple of loops that will bring you either back to where you started, the Valley Trail or the Alta Lake Rd. A few loops in here are essential for the full Emerald Forest experience.

The RMOW did a and swap with potential developers and has preserved the area as a recreational, green space & wildlife reserve. There has been some effort to shut off rogue and braided trails in the area so please stay on the main paths.

Features

Lots of little ups and downs with some great technical climbing sections. Recent upgrades have added great little ramps and fun downs.
