Trail Description

Crater Rim is old school trail near Whsitler, a bit rugged, but with incredible views to Black Tusk and Garibaldi Park. Essentially you gain the rim of an ancient volcano from its backside, ride the rim for a ways then drop into the crater that holds Loggers Lake. From the Loggers Lake gate ride the Upper Riverside Trail about 1km, make a right onto Basalt Spur, an old logging road and climb for another kilometer or so until you see another spur road grunting steeply up right across a talus slope. (If you look up sharply to the right you’ll see a cliff line high above. That will be the high point of your ride.) Ride the spur up as high as you can (This can be a full bake on a hot afternoon) to an old landing where the single track begins climbing up through slash to the forest and crater rim above. For the best descent take the fi rst right and the second left choice although all roads lead down to the Lake.

Directions

Located in Function Junction south of the village. If riding from the village, turn left at the traffic lights and follow road across the brdge and take a left.

Features

Some really tough climbing up the Basalt Spur route.
Great views as you ride down the Old Crater on a rough little old school descent.
