Trail Description
Billy’s Epic in Whistler began life as an uphill trials bike route. Turns out, what is good for the trials guys going up was great for mountain bikes going down. It became one of the lower options on the original Binty’s Trail and is currently approached on the Flank from either Rick’sRoost at the top of Alpine Way or the Alpe d’Huez death march above the Rainbow trailhead. Up from Rick’s Roost is a little more laid back climb with great views of Green and Alta Lakes. From the top of Alpine Way climb, staying right to the junction with the south Flank, which switches back south and climbs left into the woods. As you begin descending watch for Upper Binty’s dropping in on the right from above. Take a left turn at the second opening about 200 meters down. There is a small metal marker to start the fun. You will soon spill out onto an old road grade, turn left and climb a few hundred meters to a right down into the woods. Billy’s descends into the top of Rebob where soon, at a small cliff you have the option of making a sharp right and continuing Binty’s over the bluff right or left for a more mellow Rebob.
Directions
Head up via the Alpine Way access for the Flank and climb up past the hacked out paraglider nesting area with its great views before you ride about 1 km. nore up a few climbs and look for a little metal sign on the left.
Features
Steep and sketchy in spots but a classic.
Little bit of exposure and look out for some toothy little rock sections. Not to be heli-dropped please.
