WBG Travel Advisory: Bicycle Eaten by Tree in WA state. Stay North!

Yes it's true and there is even a children's book written by Berkeley Breathed,"Red Ranger Came Calling". This is the actual tree on Vashon Island WA, engulfing the vintage bicycle, which inspired the story.

Why is this relevant to the Bike Guide? It's not other than to highlight how dangerous riding south of the border can be. As far as we know, no person or bike, has been eaten by a tree while riding here in good-ole BC, hitting one, deliberate or otherwise, doesn't count.

Shameful as it may be, selling fear is quite popular in certain parts so we figured we'd jump on the spin wagon. AVOID HUNGRY TREES, RIDE IN BC!

As it happens this leads nicely into our announcement that Whistler Bike Guide will be launching its own brand of tours in 2008. We've taken a lot of years experience in riding, event management, trail management and (the less exciting) travel management arenas and combined them to produce what will be the premier riding experience in the Sea to Sky corridor. Our goal is to deliver an exceptional riding experience using best practices in trail management, the best locally based guides, top line cross country bikes and the choicest trails our area has to offer.

We're revamping our site to add the newly branded WBG Adventures product line and will have it live by mid December. In the mean time you can sneak a peak at a few of the packages using the Travel Search feature under our ADVENTURES section.

Stay tuned and beware the trees!
